About me
A wellness advocate for all ages, Kim Haney has made a career out of student lead wellness initiatives at Amherst Steele High School through her Medical Health Technology (MHT) Program since 1998. MHT is a two year program that helps prepare students for careers in healthcare. MHT students are peer leader wellness advocates and teach their fellow students all aspects of wellness.
While they have utilized community resources to the fullest, the last five years, they have implemented a suicide prevention program called, Sources of Strength. Sources of Strength focuses on building students resilience and coping skills. Mental Health, physical health, spirituality, mentors, healthy activities, generosity, positive friends, and family support.
