About me
Judy Brown received her mathematics education degree from Miami University and began her career teaching junior high mathematics in the Northwest Local School District in Cincinnati and later went on to become the Career Coordinator for the district. After receiving her master’s degree from Xavier University, she served as an elementary and middle school counselor in Norwood City Schools. For several years, she wrote curriculum for Eckard Alternative schools and presented workshops for numerous school districts in Cincinnati and Dayton. She enjoyed teaching a graduate mathematics methods class for elementary teachers at Mount Saint Joseph University and co-founding the Dayton Regional STEM School where she taught for several years. Judy has served as a mentor to new teachers and has been mentored through Inspire Up. She is presently the District 3 Director for the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Judy has taught mathematics at the National Trail High School for the last ten years.
Her passion has always been students and mathematics and integrating the two through project-based learning. The public display of student work at school, county fairs, and local museums has been exciting for the students and Judy as well. She has written six on-line books with the help of her son Ethan Mosley Brown which are presently being used in Africa, India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Judy believes that mathematics enriches the lives of students and provides opportunities especially for young women. Her diverse educational experiences have enriched her own life through what she has learned from students and other teachers.
